Leicester have confirmed the departure, once more, of midfielder Adrien Silva to Monaco on a season-long loan deal. The 30-year-old was farmed out to the French principality in the January transfer window, after failing to command a place under former Foxes manager Claude Puel. Silva returned to the club over the summer, but Brendan Rodgers' appointment as manager has failed to reverse his fortunes in the east Midlands - with Leicester now confirming in a short statement on their website that Monaco will again be his home for the forthcoming campaign. It said: "Leicester City midfielder Adrien Silva will spend the 2019/20 campaign on loan with Ligue 1 side AS Monaco. "Silva has featured for City 21 times in all competitions and spent the second half of last season on loan with AS Monaco, helping them to five wins and six draws in 15 games. "Silva joins Foxes’ teammate Islam Slimani on loan at AS Monaco for the 2019/20 campaign and could feature for them this weekend when they take on Nimes at Stade Louis II on Sunday." Youri Tielemans, Wilfred Ndidi and Dennis Praet are likely to be the club's three main central options, but Daniel Amartey, Nampalys Mendy are also options - alongside James Maddison, who could drop into a deeper role if required.

Ajax forward David Neres is reported to have turned down the opportunity of joining Manchester United in favour of committing his future to the Dutch champions. However, according to Yahoo! Sport, it was Neres himself, who had rebuffed the move to Old Trafford before penning a contract extension with last season's Champions League finalists. Neres, who contributed 12 goals during the previous campaign, had been earmarked as a potential attacking option to replace Romelu Lukaku before the recent transfer deadline. United's inability to do so has meant that Lukaku has been offloaded to Inter Milan without a top-class attacking addition barring the arrival of Daniel James from Swansea City. United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is now expected to rely on the likes of James, Mason Greenwood and Tahith Chong to provide the attacking depth until the turn of the year at the least.

The Election Tribunal sitting in Kaduna on Saturday dismissed the petition filed by People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Lawal Adamu Usman, against Uba Sani of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Sani had won the February election for the senatorial seat of Kaduna Central. Delivering the judgment, Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice A.H. Suleiman said the petitioner could not sustain his petition as the evidence adduced were based on hearsay. He held that the PDP candidate failed to prove any of his allegations of corrupt practices, over voting and election violence. Reacting, Usman, through a statement by his spokesman, Abdulazeez Sulaiman, said: “We are today more convinced of the beauty of democracy which provides judicial avenues for seeking redress. Read also: KATSINA: 6 ‘fake’ corps members to be handed over to police “As thoroughbred democrats, we never doubt the impartiality of the judiciary even though as humans, judges too, do have their individual set of biases. “The justice system involves several steps and we shall explore all available windows to the final stage.” Recall that the tribunal had also dismissed a petition by Senator Shehu Sani against Senator Uba Sani in the battle for Kaduna Central district senatorial seat. The 2019 National and State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, sitting in Kaduna, had sacked Shehu Sani’s petition challenging the emergence of Uba Sani as Kaduna Central senator. In a two-hour judgment read by the chairman of the tribunal, Justice A. H. Suleiman, the tribunal said Shehu Sani’s petition lacked merit and dismissed it.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery has said that he can be optimistic for the season despite the club's 3-1 Premier League defeat at the hands of Liverpool on Saturday. In the second half, the Reds pretty much ended the game with two more goals before the hour mark and there was only a late consolation strike for the Gunners through Lucas Torreira. Speaking after the clash, Emery said that the result was disappointing on the day but he can take positives from the performances of some players during the contest. "Yes we are disappointed we lost 3-1 but watching some players we can be optimistic. We need to improve in possession and countering the pressure but Liverpool is the best team with this," he told Sky Sports. Nicolas Pepe was able to find himself in a number of promising goalscoring positions in the first period but he was poor with his finishing which eventually cost the side. Despite the defeat, the Gunners are still temporarily second on the table after the third gameweek of the season. They are scheduled to host north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium next weekend.
