Gary Neville has claimed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still has four or five players in his Manchester United squad who don't want to be at the club. After a disappointing end to the 2018/19 campaign, Manchester United fans were promised a squad overhaul by the Norwegian, though it didn't really come to fruition during the summer transfer window. Following the Red Devils' draw with Wolves on Monday Night Football, pundit and former United right back Neville told Sky Sports that the club still need to sell a number of players - some of whom the club are actively trying to get rid of. Starting with Alexis Sanchez, who is on the verge of joining Inter, he said: "I welcomed him coming to the club as he's a tenacious forward that plays across the line and scores goals. "But it's been a disaster. I have no idea what's happened. There must be two of him. The one that played for Arsenal and Barcelona and then the one that's turned up in Manchester. They need to get him out of the club. "Romelu Lukaku didn't want to be there. It's a phased transition at the club. There's four or five that don't want to be there - he needs to get rid of a couple this year and a couple next year." Despite what was promised after the woeful loss to already relegated Cardiff City on the closing day of the last Premier League season, only four players have departed Old Trafford - three of which were due their contracts expiring. Another of those players the club are still reportedly looking to sell is central defender Marcos Rojo. The Red Devils are looking to find a club for the Argentinian, as they look to save on his wages with him now surplus to requirements following Harry Maguire's record signing. Other potential departures include the controversial Paul Pogba , whose future still hangs in the balance after he suggested he wanted to leave the club before the European transfer window closes on 2nd September, while the likes of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Fred have all found their playing time extremely limited this season. As much as Solskjaer won't want to lose one of his key men while he's unable to recruit a replacement due to the British window being closed, the Red Devils have been forced to drop their asking price from £182m to £146m as Real Madrid continue their pursuit of the Frenchman.

Arsenal director Josh Kroenke, son of owner Stan, has explained how the Gunners’ humiliation in the Europa League final last season caused the club to use 'aggressive' methods in this summer’s transfer market. After losing 4-1 to Chelsea in Azerbaijan, Arsenal were condemned to their third consecutive year without Champions League football at the Emirates, losing financial benefits and their appeal to the world’s top players. Four second half goals from Chelsea shook Arsenal’s foundations, forcing them to rethink their strategy for the upcoming transfer window and beyond. Speaking to BBC Sport, Kroenke said: "As the second half of the match unfolded, understanding the position we were in and some of the targets as we headed into the summer from a transfer standpoint, we had to rethink some of our strategy based on that last 45 minutes. "We knew we wouldn't have Champions League football and that's what those type of talents are after. My main message to Vinai [Venkatesham, managing director] and Raul [Sanllehi, head of football] coming back from Baku on the plane and then throughout meetings all day the following day with them and Unai [Emery, head coach], was: 'Let's be aggressive and find out what's possible'.” The Gunners were one of the Premier League’s biggest spenders this summer, bringing in Nicolas Pepe for a new club record fee of £72m, along with Dani Ceballos (on loan from Real Madrid), Kieran Tierney and David Luiz. On the success of Arsenal’s recruitment, the American said: "I think we had a very strong summer. We addressed certain areas on the pitch for this season and in the years ahead. We had certain age profiles that we were after. Without Champions League football we weren't exactly sure, but I encouraged our football operations department to be aggressive and when Arsenal Football Club knocks on a player's door it's a different knock. "This summer, even though we weren't in a position of strength coming out of Baku, I think there were a few people caught off guard that Arsenal Football Club still has the aura that it does. We're excited to keep pushing that now and into the future." A degree of confusion remains concerning how Arsenal were able to spend so much when they only had a reported budget of £45m to spend. Sales of Alex Iwobi and Laurent Koscielny did little to recuperate the club’s spending which was well in excess of £100m. Responding the questions over whether there had been a cash injection from the owners, Kroenke stated: "I'm not going to go into too much detail - people can read between the lines of being aggressive and what that might mean. It's going to be a private matter for us here at the club, but I hope our fans understand that by being aggressive that's exactly what we were. "Going into the summer we knew we were going to have instruments in place that were going to allow us to be aggressive and they weren't going to be dependent on sales. The guys went out, worked their magic and I'm happy to have them on our side." The 39-year-old dismissed claims that their transfer business was provoked by pressure from fans: "I would say that if you're reacting and doing club record signings based on public opinion, you're not going to go very far as a club. We weren't reactive this summer, we were actually proactive.” The Arsenal director also hinted that the club’s recruitment this season may not be over, adding: "As for January, I don't want to get ahead of ourselves. We've got to evaluate some things in the short term and figure out where we might need to address going forward, so when January does roll around we're going to be proactive again."

Liverpool are thought to have received a formal loan offer for 18- year-old academy starlet Bobby Duncan from Danish club Nordsjaelland. Duncan has emerged as one of Liverpool’s most talked about young talents as a result of his impressive 32-goal haul in the youth ranks last season. He was also included in the first team squad during pre-season, but hasn’t been involved since 2019/20 began for real. After making the step up from Under-18 level, the teenager, who is Steven Gerrard's cousin, has so far appeared as a substitute in two Premier League 2 fixtures for Liverpool’s Under-23 side in the early stages of this season. According to the Daily Mail , Nordsjallend have approached Liverpool with a loan offer that would see Duncan join the Danish Superliga side for the duration of the 2019/20 campaign. The club, based in a small town not far from Copenhagen, have apparently also proposed that they would pay all of Duncan’s wages during the loan, while they can offer first team football. It will now be up to Liverpool to consider the offer, although it is said that Duncan is open to the idea of moving abroad over a concern that his path to the first team at Anfield might currently be blocked – Divock Origi and fellow teenager Rhian Brewster are ahead in the pecking order. Liverpool must decide whether it is better for Duncan’s development to remain under their own watchful eye playing junior football, where there might only be a slim chance of making the step up over the coming months, or jump straight into senior action somewhere else. Nordsjaelland only formed in 2003 but were famously crowned Danish champions less than 10 years later and competed in the 2012/13 Champions League against both Chelsea and Juventus, even coming close to beating the latter at home in a 1-1 draw.
