Everton next manager odds: Former Stoke City boss linked, David Moyes favourite
Everton have become the latest Premier League club to cut ties with
their manager, parting ways with Marco Silva on Thursday.
The Portuguese boss has been under pressure for a number of weeks
and the trigger was pulled in the aftermath of a 5-2 drubbing at the
hands of arch-rivals Liverpool, which left the club in the relegation
zone.
As a result, the Merseyside outfit are now on the hunt for a new
manager and a number of familiar names are being linked with a
move to Goodison Park, as shown by the latest odds from SkyBet.
Former Stoke City boss Mark Hughes is included in the bookies' odds
to take over the Toffees, albeit far down the list.
David Moyes is the leading contender to take the reigns and return to
the club where he spent years previously, with the former Manchester
United and Sunderland boss odds-on for a reunion.
River Plate boss Marcelo Gallardo, who has impressed in South
America, is second in the list to take the reigns, ahead of
Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe, former Newcastle United boss
Rafael Benitez and former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Other notable names include former players Duncan Ferguson and
Mikel Arteta, the latter of whom is also tipped as a contender for
Arsenal’s vacant managerial position following the sacking of Unai
Emery.
