Man United fans will love Ashley Young's tweet after noticing what he did during the Spurs game
Ashley Young has caused a stir after Manchester United fans spotted
footage of the wing-back speaking to the Old Trafford ballboys during
the 2-1 win over Tottenham.
Young was recalled to the United starting line-up by Ole Gunnar
Solskjaer in place of teenager Brandon Williams, and repaid the faith
by captaining the Red Devils to a well deserved victory over Spurs.
Two goals from Marcus Rashford, one from the penalty spot, sealed
the three points and saw United climb to sixth in the table, eight
points behind four placed Chelsea.
But it was one moment in the second half involving Young which had
supporters talking online.
With United leading, Young was seen on the touchline in the 74th
minute waiting for the ballboys to deliver the ball for a throw-in.
However, the 34-year-old was heard talking to teammate Juan Mata,
who was warming up on the touchline, and appeared to say: "Ball
boys need to take their time when the ball goes out for a throw."
After the game, Young seemingly confirmed his actions when
responding to a tweet with shushing emojis and a laughing face.
Speaking after his first defeat as Tottenham head coach, Jose
Mourinho admitted his side were second best for large periods of the
first half.
"For 30 minutes they not just better than us, they were much better
than us," he said.
"They were better in intensity, in aggression, they were winning first
balls, second balls, 50/50 duels, but we were lucky.
"Then in the last 15 minutes of the first half we were us and United
were in trouble. We scored a goal and I thought in the second half
with some adjustments we did at half-time, I thought we were going
to win it. But the second goal is not easy to process. P
everybody says it was a penalty.
"I prefer to say it was a throw-in, because the penalty was later.
It is a
throw-in in the first minute in the second half and that for me is really
hard.
"You go from the 1-1 and you want to go there for the three points and
you arrive in the second half and they play the game that they want to
play.
"They dropped the block, they defend, they got fouls, a couple of
dangerous counter-attacks, closing, closing, closing.
Then we had the
ball in the last third, the goal could happen, but didn't.
I think they
deserved to win."
