Man Utd scout attends RB Salzburg vs Liverpool amid Erling Haaland transfer speculation

Manchester United ’s head of global scouting Marcel Bout
was in attendance to watch Erling Haaland in action for RB
Leipzig for their decisive Champions League group stage
encounter against Liverpool on Tuesday evening.

The Norwegian striker has been a revelation in this season’s
competition, scoring in all five group games thus far and
eight in total, with only Bayern Munich ’s Robert
Lewandowski more prolific.

Haaland, the son of former Manchester City and Leeds
midfielder Alf Inge Haaland, is coveted by a number of
leading European clubs but United hold a significant
advantage in the race to sign him, given he was coached
during the early stages of his career at Molde by Ole Gunnar
Solskjaer.

United are hopeful of making at least one addition to their
squad in January with a forward among their key priorities,
despite the currant stellar form of Marcus Rashford and
Anthony Martial.

Reports earlier this week claimed the 19-year-old, who had
scored 28 goals in 21 appearances in all competitions before
tonight’s match, could be bought for as little as £17million
in January with Bild claiming his current contract contains a
buyout clause.

United, however, share a difficult relationship with the
striker’s agent Mino Raiola who has clashed with the club
over their handling of Paul Pogba’s future in the past.

Raiola, according to the Athletic, would be keen for Haaland
to snub the Premier League club in favour of moving to a
smaller outfit, before he takes the leap and moves to one ofWhen asked about his future before Salzburg’s clash with
Liverpool, Haaland said: ‘I just focus on my job – playing
football – to enjoy what I do every day and to go in with a
clear mindset to be in the present and enjoy the moment
right now.

‘My focus is Salzburg and me as a player. So it’s not hard at
all. I’m enjoying playing football.’
