Raheem Sterling Offered Record-Breaking Extension by Nike as Commercial Interest Soars

Manchester City and England winger Raheem Sterling has been
offered a record-breaking contract extension by Nike as they look to
retain him as one of their global brand ambassadors.
The 24-year-old is currently tied into a deal that expires next year,
but talks are understood to be underway over extending the
partnership amid rumoured interest from rival sportswear
brands Indeed, Puma and Air Jordan, who are a separate subsidiary
of Nike.

MailOnline Sport report that a contract running until 2023 has been
offered to Sterling, which is among the most lucrative commercial
deals ever offered to a professional footballer. Puma's interest is
thought to have led to a 'game-changing' offer being put forward to
Sterling, while Air Jordan's proposed deal is thought to be worth
around £100m.
Sterling's public profile has risen significantly over the past year or
so, with a number of standout contributions on and off the pitch
making him one of the most prized assets in world football.
For City, he has become one of their most prominent on-field
performers and is widely regarded to be one of the most talented
forwards the Premier League has to offer. His achievements have
extended to the European and international stage too, with Sterling
recently placing 12th in the prestigious 2019 Ballon d'Or rankings.
Off the pitch, Sterling is one of the highest paid players at City,
earning around £300,000 per week. He has previously been linked
with a move to Real Madrid, prompting the Premier League
champions to open negotiations with Sterling over a new and
improved deal that would see him not only become the club's
highest paid player, but the best paid player in English football.

He has also become a prominent figure in the ongoing battle to
combat discrimination within football, fronting a Premier League-led
campaign called No Room for Racism, as well as speaking out, in
interviews and on social media, in the aftermath of a number of
abhorrent instances of abuse.
