Mesut Ozil reacts to Arsenal ending two- month wait for a win and praises Freddie Ljungberg

Mesut Ozil admits Arsenal still have plenty of hard work
ahead of them despite ending their long wait for a Premier
League win, while he has praised the impact of interim boss
Freddie Ljungberg.

The Gunners appeared to be heading for another miserable
night against West Ham on Monday but rallied in nine frantic
second-half minutes as Gabriel Martinelli, Nicolas Pepe and
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang all netted.

Arsenal had been on their longest run without a league win
since 1977 – having last recorded a victory against
Bournemouth at the start of October.

But their comeback at the London Stadium brought an end
to that poor form and pushed them back up into the top-half
of the table, though Ozil acknowledges that this is just the
first step of many.

He tweeted: ‘Finally a reason to smile again… a little bit!
That winning feeling is back. How I’ve missed you!
‘But of course we all know that there’s still a lot of work in
front of us.’

Ozil had been frozen out by axed manager Unai Emery but
has started all three of Ljungberg’s games in charge and
believes the Swede’s promotion has been a welcome
change. He was a football player and he understands us as players.

He has already shown his quality as a coach and we are
thankful we have him,’ Ozil told Sky Sports.
‘Today was a successful day for him and us. It is always
hard for the club to change the coach.

Freddie is a young
coach and he is always there for us, which is what we need.’On goalscorers Martinelli and Pepe, he added: ‘We are happy
for them.

‘We know they have the quality they showed today and we
are happy they scored important goals for us. We will
continue fighting hard to reach our goal for the season.’
