Mikel Arteta set to take charge for Arsenal’s clash with Everton after agreeing £5m-a-year deal
Arsenal expect to announce the appointment of Mikel Arteta
as the club’s next manager in time for the Spaniard to lead
the Gunners in their clash against Everton on Saturday.
The 37-year-old held a final round of talks with the Gunners
on Monday night where he is said to have agreed a £5m-a-
year deal with his former side.
The contract is expected to be for around three-and-a-half
years and Arsenal will pay a seven figure sum in
compensation to City for Arteta’s services.
According to the Mirror , Arsenal director Stan Kroenke met
with Arteta in the last 24 hours and signed off a deal that
will see Arteta return to the club he left in 2016 after five
years in north London.
The Spaniard is still expected to travel to Oxford for City’s
Carabao Cup final clash on Wednesday morning but he has
the club’s blessing to move on.
However, Arteta could be on collision course with Guardiola
over his plans to bring coach Rodolfo Borrell with him to the
Emirates.
The Spaniard has worked alongside Arteta under Guardiola
for the last three years and City will do all they can to hold
onto him.
Losing two staff members would be a huge blow for City,
especially as they are concerned that Guardiola could walk
away at the end of the season.
